REAL ESRs participated in the QGIS and R statistical analysis training held 10-14 February at Stockholm University. The QGIS training, organised by the department of Human Geography at Stockholm University included basic GIS exercises, followed by intermediate and advanced GIS analyses involving spatial data analysis, working with terrain data, and accessing public domain geographic data.
The R training organized by Victor Johansson from the Department of Ecology, Environment, and Plant Sciences at Stockholm University deals with using the R computer program for statistical data analysis and plotting analysis results. The group also met with a group of researchers from the department of Human Geography working on palaeo-related and global climate modelling research in eastern and southern Africa and discussed ongoing research. The training session included group discussions and presentations about WordPress website editing and tips on reference management using the Mendeley program.
